GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES
Central Piedmont is currently seeking a PT Recruitment, Retention & Assessment Specialist position in the College and Career Readiness department on the Central Campus. This is a grant funded position until June 2025.
Anticipated hiring date: May 2023
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Hours per week: up to 29
General Function
Assist in recruiting, testing and monitoring operations of the College and Career Readiness Department. Analyze student data per NCCS Basic skills benchmarks and federal requirements to prepare timely reports that allow for data informed management.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provides information and guidance to new, prospective and undecided students to assist in the transition to college or Basic Skills programs.
2. Conducts surveys and other research; Collect student outcome data; gathers, compiles, and analyzes information; prepares weekly reports for coordinators and instructors.
3. Works with Coordinators and faculty to maintain student outcome tracking.
4. Monitors progress of classes through site visits; Evaluates instructors and instructing methods.
5. Ensures that all classes have an adequate stock of books, tests, and other academic materials.
6. Assists in student recruitment efforts by developing and implementing recruitment plans, creating marketing tools, and attending community events to serve as the Basic Skills Recruitment Representative.
7. Explains policies, procedures and program requirements to students. Assist students in selecting educational goals.
8. Monitor student progress per standardized testing and administer test per NCCCS Basic Skills policy; Work with agencies and parents on placements and referrals.
9. Reviews, interprets, and evaluates applicant test scores.
10. Designs and conducts orientation workshops/classes that will enhance the development of academic skills and retention.
11. Oversees registration process and paperwork; maintains files on registered students. Work in student assessment centers.
12. Processes end-of-term paperwork and compiles reports on grades, attendance, and retention rates.
13. Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics
Knowledge of academic program requirements across the college
Knowledge of Adult Learning theory FGE, CCE, OE and Basic Skills Program
Understanding of all Basic Skills national reporting system requirements and documentation
Knowledge of data systems for entering and reporting for state reports
Ability to communicate effectively orally, visually, and written
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Requires Literacy/Basic Skills teaching techniques
Requires knowledge of student placement
Requires knowledge of assessment tools
Requires knowledge of institutional strategies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and one year of related experience

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary for this position is $17.44/hr. Classification type is Classified. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments may be required of any position. All positions are subject to budget approval.
