SUMMARY: The Project Manager has responsibility for coordination of the project from order entry thru the warranty period.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as the primary point of contact for internal / external customers, stakeholders and sponsors.
- Reviews customer specifications, sales order quotes, and customer purchase orders for accuracy and completeness. Clarifying to ensure a proper solution can be developed to match the customer requirements.
- Works closely with the required departments to analyze the assigned projects, establish schedules with project milestones and execute plans.
- Manages the field project scope, which includes review of major contract to successful completion / signoff of the installation, as defined by the sales order.
- Facilitate mechanical and electrical design reviews for conformance to customer specifications.
- Track / manages project cost against project estimate. Reports variances in both labor and material at project completion, as well as pre-defined interim milestones.
- Reports project progress to customer with appropriate frequency.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge about one or more company products.
- Proficient with project management software, such as Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals relative to company products.
- Ability to read / understand and interpret mechanical / electrical drawings.
- Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Less than 10% travel required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
- Plus 3-5 years’ experience in managing capital equipment projects.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Excellent math skills are required. Must be able to perform engineering calculations employing algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as required.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficient with project management software, such as Microsoft Project
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. Employee spends some time on shop floor. The majority of the time will be spent sitting in front of a computer and use of the phone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most of the time, the work environment is a pleasant, temperature controlled, professional office environment in a manufacturing setting. Personal workstation maybe located on 2nd floor. The employee works in the office but does have frequent interaction with personnel on the shop floor. The employee may also be required to travel occasionally to work in customers’ plants reviewing new applications or on the installation, start-up and commissioning of company products. In plants, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed but does not require hearing protection in most areas.
