The Project Manager will be responsible for managing all activities required to deliver successful behind-the-meter / (distributed generation) and utility-scale solar (PV) design-build projects. Projects include Solar (PV) assessments, infrastructure construction, implementation contracts, conceptual engineering design, forensic engineering evaluations, and system/building commissioning. The Project Manager will manage all aspects of project construction and delivery, including coordination with development, contracts group, engineering, construction management, and contractor performance from mobilization to commissioning/startup. In some cases, the Project Manager will manage self-perform / owner-construct projects, requiring management and coordination of craft subcontractors. The Project Manager will support the development of complex large-scale renewable energy projects from initial project proposal and siting, through to site control, permitting, design, interconnection, approval, contracting, title curative, financing, and handover to construction and asset management. Identify, propose, and implement creative or alternative project development approaches that reduce exposure to project development risks, optimize development schedules or create additional project value. Support and conduct due diligence on development-stage project and portfolio acquisitions, including comparison and prioritization of multiple opportunities based on common siting, permitting, interconnection, power marketing, and other project metrics. This member will be the point of contact with the landowners, AHJ, and local environmental permit agencies, and support the development team. The Project Manager will manage and coordinate internal resources including development managers, contracts personnel, engineers, construction managers, quality/safety managers, and project control managers. The Project Manager will manage all aspects of Unifier tools and be familiar with P6 schedule. The Project Manager will be responsible for the representation of the project’s status and problems and their solutions to senior management for implementation of solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage project scope, schedule, and budgeting, pre-qualification, and management of contractors, subcontractors, and equipment vendors; maintaining close contact with the various stakeholders, Authority of Jurisdiction, and deliverables.
  • Manage phases of the project including pre-construction development, engineering, construction management, commissioning, and performance testing including collaboration with engineering, contracts, development, and project management teams in constructing and conducting optimization and value engineering of renewable projects
  • Conduct constructability reviews; supervise and review cost estimating and purchasing functions; manage field-related project planning, scheduling, and quality control; coordinate field construction project management in cooperation with the construction management personnel; direct construction contract administration and risk management activities; and manage budgets, schedules, invoicing, and other contract requirements
  • Perform reporting functions including weekly reports and monthly reports to senior management.

  • Strong demonstrated experience in the management of change and cost control of capital projects
  • Strong leadership, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to represent the company with integrity and professionalism

  • Strong computer skills including Excel, MS Project / Primavera, and Word
  • Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and reporting requirements; OSHA-10 or higher is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Up to 75% travel in the first year and up to 25% for subsequent years.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e., civil, structural, mechanical or electrical, or similar technical degree) required
  • P.E. license or E.I.T. a plus
  • PMP certification a plus
  • 3 to 6 years of experience as a project manager, field engineer, or project engineer preferred.
  • Experience as a project manager with responsibility for the management of project budget, schedule, engineering performance, construction performance, commissioning performance, quality performance, and safety performance required.
  • Solar or wind project management, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), field engineering, or construction management experience preferred. At least 3 years of field construction experience (experience as construction manager/site manager/field engineer/field project control engineer) is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of engineering management of project teams preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a safety-focused work environment required.

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $103K-155K . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
