Become a Project Controls Cost Estimating Sr. Specialist and work in the Major Projects Organization (MPO) within the Project Controls Department of the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Organization unit at Southern California Edison (SCE). This position will be responsible for generating the cost estimates for capital substation and bulk transmission line projects.

The Project Controls Cost Estimating Sr. Specialist must interface with various SCE inter-departments to develop and maintain detailed cost estimates and unit estimates for assigned major and/or multi-year project(s) and/or program(s) throughout their lifecycles within the cost estimation role on capital projects such as Distribution Substation Planning, Infrastructure Replacement Programs, Connecting Renewable Energy, Grid Modernization etc.

This role will be responsible for following SCE’s cost estimating methodologies by leveraging various features and functions of the cost estimating tool.

  • Participate/provide input on department policies, guidelines, and work instructions through attending meetings and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Experience applying project controls principles and/or project management body of knowledge on project cost estimates
  • Learn, develop, and improve current best practices for gathering, organizing, and reporting project scope and cost data.
  • Collaborate with other project controls groups with a focused-on learning, developing, and improving current best practices for gathering, organizing, and reporting project scope and cost data.
Qualifications


The essentials

  • Five years of combined experience in cost estimating, cost engineering, cost controls, scheduling and/or related project controls.

The preferred

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline
  • Certifications in engineering, project management, project controls, construction management
  • SAP experience
  • InEight estimating tool

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.   • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
