iSeries/AS400 RPG Programmer/Analyst

As a company of over 2,200 employees, we have a great opportunity for an experienced person to be an integral part of our IMBi/RPG team. We require a candidate with deep manufacturing experience, ability to learn code in our highly modified Friedman ERP environment and a person who is a terrific team player.
On-site at our Corporate Office in Salina, KS is preferred; remote available for the highly experienced candidate.
Reporting to the Director of IT, responsibilities include:
- Consult with users to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.
- Evaluate user request for new or modified programs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities
- Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
- Analyze and estimate feasibility, costs, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
- Design and code screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
- Convert designs and specifications into computer code.
- Compile code into programs and correct errors detected in compile process.
- Create test transactions and run tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications.
- Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs.
- Consult with users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs to ensure repeatable processes with high quality results.
- Write and maintain technical specification and documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
- Create, update and maintain user documentation: inform users on the new functions and how to use them.
- Responsible for actively resolving day-to-day technology and application needs of the user community with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective action. Significant problem resolution skills and a customer-service aptitude is required.

Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment
- 8+ years’ experience programming RPG/RPGLE/RPGLE Free
- 5+ years’ experience with embedded SQL and functional SQL knowledge
- Thorough understanding of data management and administration including information flow and business process
- Experience with Friedman ERP system a plus

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
