Job description

The Program Director works under the direction of the HSI-STEM grant project directors to recruit and prepare participants for the grant. Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).

Please note: This position is grant funded and continuation is contingent upon future funding.

Duties:

  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates all student employees.
  • Oversees recruitment and acceptance of all participants in the program verifying eligibility of all participants.
  • Institutes and maintains database of student participant information.
  • Oversees assessment of each participant and the development and evaluation of support programs.
  • Helps organize activities of student group.
  • Coordinates student research, internship placement and faculty-training activities.
  • Assists faculty in transfer plan and articulation agreement assessment and development.
  • Supervises project director assistant and performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel, STEM field or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of work experience with a disadvantaged population in a student service and retention capacity.
  • Experience with fiscal and data management.
  • Knowledge of learning theory, academic skill development, and learning assessment.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining an academic support service.
  • Supervisory skills in working with professional and student employees.
  • Knowledge and skills in working with minority, first generation, low income, and students with disabilities.
  • Ability to express effectively both in written and oral communications. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Skill in using student information systems and appropriate computer applications in individual assessments and project evaluation.
  • Must have strong student development and orientation.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, managerial, interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Ability to organize and see projects through to completion; managerial capabilities and excellent people skills.

Desired:

Master's degree in an Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel, STEM field or related field.

Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those of the targeted population.

Experience with specific STEM fields.

Experience in administering federal grants and budgets.

Bilingual skill (English/Spanish).
