Program Director

Spend your summer making a difference in the lives of campers and staff members at Camp Pondicherry in Bridgton. Work closely with the camp director to provide leadership and supervision to staff, assist in program planning and overall camp operation.

Requirements:

  • 24 years of age or older
  • Clean driving record
  • Positive role models for campers and staff
  • Organized and motivated
  • Empathetic, caring, and enthusiastic

Job responsibilities include:

  • Work with Camp Director to plan and implement staff training
  • Oversee staff planning and development of camper activities and lesson plans
  • Provide support and encouragement to counselors
  • Assist with behavior management of campers
  • Visit units frequently to provide supervision and support for campers and staff
  • Develop and implement evening activities, special events, and daily program
  • Run camp in the absence of the Camp Director

Training Provided:

  • One week paid staff training
  • Additional certification week (if needed) may include: CPR, Wilderness First Aid, Lifeguarding, Canoeing, Challenge Course, Hatchet Throwing, Archery, and others

Dates of employment:

  • Mid - June to end of August
  • If available, administrative staff may begin prep work in early June

Physical requirements:

Ability and willingness to perform tasks that involve the ability to exert physical effort, which may involve bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 40 pounds). Regular standing and prolonged periods of walking on rough and uneven terrain at camp is required.

Pay: $2,800.00 - $3,400.00 per year
