College Possible is a growing nonprofit dedicated to coaching low-income students to and through college, breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering our workforce. Our rigorously tested model earns top-of-field results and students served are 10 times more likely to become college graduates. A 2013 Harvard study found that the program more than doubles a student's chance of enrolling in a four-year college. College Possible has a budget of $16.5 million, 90 full-time, regular employees and more than 200 AmeriCorps and VISTA service members. During the 2015-2016 school year, we will serve 19,000 students in 60 partner high schools and nearly 300 college campuses.

Basic Description

We are seeking a dynamic, high-energy, idealistic leader to join our successful, growing organization as part of our program leadership team. The Program Coordinator helps coordinate College Possible programs within our partner schools by supervising, training and supporting 4-8 Service Corps Members.


Essential Job Functions


Supervise, Train and Support Service Corps Members:
Duties include providing daily support, guidance, and oversight to Service Corps Members to ensure excellence in service. The Program Coordinator troubleshoots issues as they arise, evaluates performance and gathers feedback through check-ins and session observations, by working in partnership with other staff to ensure the highest quality of service to students, sites, and Service Corps Members. The Program Coordinator will help coordinate, prepare for, and lead trainings and weekly meetings for Service Corps Members, evaluate trainings, and summarize all information for future reference.


Ensure Program Quality and Curriculum Fidelity:
Oversee the implementation of curriculum for coaches, evaluate and provide feedback, and lead high-quality trainings that prepare Corps members to deliver programming to students at the highest level. Plan and coordinate special events or year-long projects as assigned.


Develop and Maintain School Relationships:
Work to build and maintain successful relationships with assigned schools by evaluating service delivery to sites on an ongoing basis and maintaining communication with key contacts at each school. Meet with key contacts to ensure program quality and successful communication. Distribute program updates and establish successful communication as the organization's lead ambassador to assigned schools.


Evaluate, Track and Report on Progress:
Assist the Program Manager in the weekly tracking, evaluation and reporting of College Possible's student progress in all major program areas, and the identification and recruitment of students and Service Corps Members for College Possible's public education activities. The Program Coordinator will assume some of the responsibilities pertinent to AmeriCorps Program Directors, including the maintenance of member files and web reporting of member hours. This position will use knowledge of specific AmeriCorps guidelines to ensure all aspects of the program are appropriately administered.


Recruit Program Participants and Staff:
Work with Program Team to recruit and select students and Service Corps Members for the coming program year. This may include calling, e-mailing, and posting announcements, holding information sessions, and answering applicant questions. The Program Coordinator will participate in the selection process, and will help coordinate student and Service Corps Member communication once the selections have been made.

  • Bachelor's degree and at least one year of full-time work experience required. Teaching and/or college admissions experience desired. Supervisory experience strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with AmeriCorps, VISTA, or other service programs preferred.
  • Ability to work well with diverse types of people in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to help low-income young people achieve success.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and handle potentially stressful situations calmly and appropriately.
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations. Time is split between the College Possible office and affiliated schools.
  • Familiarity with college admissions process, including standardized tests, application process and financial aid strongly preferred.
  • Desire to work in a growing nonprofit organization, ability to adapt, creativity, and commitment to excellence highly valued.
  • Access to reliable transportation required.
