Summary of Position
The Production Scheduler is the primary liaison between Production Coordinators and the Assembly and Shipping staff, establishing schedules, monitoring production, updating priorities, and providing status for work in process.
Using MRP system reports and Coordinator input, the Production Scheduler prepares and communicates the daily priorities for Assembly and Shipping operations in support of meeting customer delivery requirements, The Production Scheduler communicates with Production Control and our vendors to ensure conflicts and issues are resolved quickly and efficiently, and to provide status as required for our customers. The Production Scheduler also provides support for shop processes such as Shelf Life database for consumables management.
The Production Scheduler must communicate effectively to convey priorities and status, and to resolve issues efficiently. Must work independently without close supervision.
Responsibilities
- Essential Functions
- Prepares and distributes daily schedules and priority reports for the shipping and assembly functions, compiling data from MRP downloads and customer forecasts. Communicate the priorities to department leads and supervision in support of establishing daily action plans.
- Continually monitor daily movement of jobs to ensure customer delivery requirements are met, providing status to and fielding questions from the Customer Coordinators as required.
- Identifies, tracks, elevates, and/or resolve issues that impact production and delivery schedules.
- Communicate with vendors as required to resolve documentation or other order discrepancies. Initiate corrective action when appropriate with internal departments.
- Executes work order changes such as splits and quantity corrections and make approved inventory adjustments as required to support production schedules.
- Uses software applications: MS Word, MS Excel, and MRP in preparing and compiling reports, researching job status, and communicating plans.
- Manages established shop floor processes including, but not limited to ordering supplies, maintaining shelf-life compliance, and tracking certified tools.
- Collaboratively works with employees from all departments, and our customers, to ensure that daily priorities are managed, and commitments made are met.
- Drives company vehicles including delivery van and forklifts.
- Provides occasional backup for shipping or assembly operations.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of all Company records and information.
- Monitors for compliance and enforces security standards and procedures to protect Company property and personnel.
- Achieves and maintains consistent, regular, and good attendance each attendance year.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a production scheduling or production expedite role.
- Minimum 3 years' experience with MRP software
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to qualify for coverage on the company's insurance policy for driving company vehicles.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite programs, using a computer (PC).
Desirable Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience with production control or expedite in an aerospace manufacturing company.
- Formal training or practical experience in Lean Manufacturing
- Experience reading aerospace blueprints and engineering documents.
