REPORTS TO Engineering & Maintenance Mgr. GRADE Technical 105
Summary/Purpose
Plans, directs, and coordinates technical support for the manufacturing process. Uses technical concepts and company’s policies and procedures to solve a wide range of problems in imaginative and practical ways.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Develops, and evaluates manufacturing methods.
  • Uses professional concepts and company policies and procedures along with a “hands on” approach to develop and implement solutions to difficult manufacturing problems.
  • Uses innovative and practical methods to make improvements in manufacturing methods that result in improved quality and increased productivity while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Analysis and troubleshooting of production equipment based on technical drawings and mechanical evaluation.
  • Provide training to Set up & Change -Over Teams, Manufacturing Technicians, and Manufacturing Engineering Technicians to improve technical abilities.
  • Interface with all levels in the organization using verbal, written and graphical communication tools to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Design and document tooling designs on drawings that communicates tooling requirements to toolmakers.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes and contribute to completion of department milestones.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate manufacturing requirements and potential including machine capability studies, etc.
  • Plans, implements, and tracks Capital and Non-Capital cost reduction projects and reports to management on a regular basis.
  • Support 5-S, Quality Circles, IATF16949 and ISO14001 efforts throughout the plant
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems
  • Close tolerance measurement
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment utilizing effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, with ability to make decisions.
  • Positive attitude & ability to prioritize and deal with multiple assignments and stressful situations.
  • Extensive knowledge of personal computers and related software, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCad or SolidWorks.
  • Experience with CBN grinding is a plus.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • CNC Programming experience is a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline or equivalent technical degree
  • Minimum 2-4 years of related experience

  • The primary work environment is a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • The secondary work for this position is a typical manufacturing setting which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety foot wear.
  • Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 5-10% of time.
