Job Brief

As the Jr. Process Engineer, you will track plant operational performance and provide information and ideas for plant process efficiency improvements. You will provide technical guidance to maintenance, HSE, and operations.

What You’ll Do

As the Jr. Process Engineer, you will track plant operational performance and provide information and ideas for plant process efficiency improvements. You will work with the other engineers to develop long-term improvement opportunities to ensure long-term sustainable, efficient, and safe operations. Other duties will include:

  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance, HSE, and operations and provide guidance on plant Distributed Control System modifications and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate and be committed to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through Gembas, Safe Act Observations and other tools
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
  • Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values.
  • Monitor plant performance by tracking KPIs of the Ammonia plant
  • Identify continuous improvement initiatives through KPIs & problem solving
  • Recommend and help implement process improvements and alterations for improved performance and safety
  • Manage operations projects as appropriate and complete engineering designs and evaluations
  • Provide technical guidance for Administration, Environmental, Safety, Operations, and Maintenance
  • Write work requests, service and consulting contracts. Supervise and coordinate outside and professional services
  • Write purchase requisitions, solicit and evaluate quotations, select materials and equipment, write material requisitions
  • Make field inspections of proposed and current projects
  • Supervise specific projects involving company and contract personnel
  • Availability for on-call duty, acting as the plant emergency contact person during non-office hours based on a rotating schedule with other technical support
  • Provide start-up support as needed, including Night Shifts
  • Participate and support PSM (Process Safety Management) efforts as required
  • Play key roles in the Management of Change Process, including Owner & Reviewer

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Process Technology, or related field of study.
  • Internship or Co-op Experience in Chemical plant or refinery preferred
  • Knowledge of chemical plant mechanical equipment and processes
  • Use sound engineering, economic, and management principles to affect decisions in parallel with company and corporate goals and objectives
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
