About the role:
The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for delivering thought leadership, strategic direction, consulting, standards, and technology guidance to both IT service providers and business lines, with the goal of achieving business objectives. Leads and participates in the development of architecture strategies, frameworks, and architecture governance processes. Establishes long-term architecture direction to ensure sound investment decisions.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accountable for delivering thought leadership, strategic direction, consulting, standards, and technology guidance to both IT service providers and business lines, with the goal of achieving business objectives. Leads and participates in the development of architecture strategies, frameworks, and architecture governance processes. Establishes long-term architecture direction to ensure sound investment decisions.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leads architectural updates to modernize existing systems and build architectural plans for new solutions
  • Ensure architectural adherence for the services developed by Enterprise Architecture
  • Research industry trends in architecture disciplines and uses them to develop IT architecture strategies in support BSC’s enterprise-wide IT strategies
  • Anticipates future architectural risks based on industry trends and business needs at the enterprise level
  • Lead the appropriate architecture work streams to develop long term strategies/plans (blueprints/roadmaps)
  • Provide IT Point of View on emerging technology (e.g., Cloud Services, IoT, best in class industry solutions, etc.) to assist in the strategic business plans
  • Guide more junior architects working in technologies
  • Architecturally consult and support regional or divisional projects and initiatives
  • Implement recommended architecture changes throughout area of responsibility.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • 10+ years architecture experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create implementation roadmaps that provide realistic progress to achieving a future state.
  • Ability to create architectures for complex solutions leveraging approved strategic and standard technologies
  • Apply architecture principles to a given context.
  • Able to articulate in IT and non-IT terms the architecture principles in more than one architecture domain.
  • Proficient at tailoring communication/influencing techniques depending on stakeholder.
  • Distill research into relevant points and form logical conclusions on the topic.
  • Discover innovative technologies and/or novel applications of technology to solve unique technical and business problems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in medical device or life sciences industry
  • Leader in facilitating alignment on opposing points of view.
  • Avoid over engineering and produces simple solutions when solving business challenges.
  • Utilize influencing techniques when interacting with stakeholders.
  • Challenge conventional wisdom; work well with ambiguity.
