We’re seeking a future team member in the role of Principal, Full-Stack Developer to join our Markets EFX Technology team.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Work with FX traders to improve pricing by evaluating the FX curve engine model, using a combination of inhouse and vendor software
  • Work directly with FX traders to implement technical solutions to meet business-critical requirements. Provide demos to traders during the dev lifecycle to capture feedback
  • Take ownership of deliverables, working largely independently, from analysis, design, build and test, through to L3 production support.
  • Become an active participant in technical discussions across the wider FX technology team to define and agree the future strategic architecture

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 10-14 years of experience in software development required with advanced knowledge of Java 11, Spring, Spring Boot, Kafka, Rest, Angular (nice to have), Oracle, KDB (optional) and FIX (optional). Use of an automated testing framework is essential.
  • Hands-on development experience and advanced knowledge of FX pricing and FX curve building, inc. market connectivity venues. Practical experience of the D3 pricing platform (or an equivalent FX curve building platform) is essential.
  • Self-starter who can work directly with FX traders to gather requirements and implement simple, reliable, and low latent solutions.
  • A team player who can engage effectively and build relationships with the global technology and business teams.

Consults with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support. Must have thorough and demonstrative knowledge on or both the user-side frontend of a website, as well as the backend, server-side that powers the user-side. Additional requirements include intermediate understanding of security principles, relational databases and architecture design principles.

Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards.

Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites.

Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles.

Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group.

Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time.

Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans.

Stays abreast of emerging technologies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Mentors junior level engineers.

Expertise in using a specific application development toolkit and proficiency of front end and backend development coding languages such as C#, Java, HTML, NodeJS, CSS, JSON, Angular, JavaScript. Must also have proficiency in application frameworks and containerization.

Communications and organization skills; team work skills; possess strong interpersonal skills to support mentoring.

Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans.

They must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies.

Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits

Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
