The Daisy Early Learning Academy program is dedicated to the care and early childhood education of children from ages 3 years through pre-K. We are looking for one part-time and one full-time person to join our team.
Our private child care center, operated by Sonoran Schools, is located in a secured and self-contained area of the campus of Sonoran Science Academy Tucson. We are a state-licensed facility and are proud to be rated as a 3 STAR quality provider under the Quality First program of Arizona First Things First. We are also accredited by AdvancED.
Job Summary: Responsible for the daily activities of an assigned group of children. The successful teacher will have a great love and patience for children. The goal is to contribute to the health, mental and emotional development of children so they can more easily be successful in the next level of education.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
· Implements the approved curriculum.
· Planning, developing and implementing age appropriate curriculum.
· Supervises students within the classroom and during recreational activities
· Provides an environment of comfort and security for young students by indulging in nurturing behavior.
· Maintains a well-organized and safe environment for students by ensuring that no hazardous materials are present in the classroom.
· Assists students during breakfast, lunch and snack time, restroom and washing activities.
· Handles unruly students by employing tact and good sense.
· Provides one-on-one support to young students, such as helping them write their names or learning initial counting.
· Observes students for changes in behavior and report findings to Director.
· Provides parents with feedback and information regarding their student(s)’ behavior and activities.
· Consistently maintains and reviews the classroom Communication Log.
· Ensures classroom staff maintain 100% compliance with State Regulations as well as DELA’s Policies and Procedures; CACFP, Arizona Health Department, Quality 1st, and accreditation standards.
· Other duties as may be assigned or required by Director, Assistant Director, or Central Office.
Requirements:
· Familiar with Quality First Program Requirements
· Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
· Excellent communication and instructional skills
· Ability to act as a mediator between children
· Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
Minimum Qualifications:
· Must show evidence of meeting one of the following requirements:
o High School Diploma or GED certificate.
o Enrollment in Vocational Rehabilitation.
· Requires a current IVP fingerprint clearance card, eighteen (18) hours of continuing education, CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers’ Card, and infant hours.
· Requires TB clearance
· Previous experience in a licensed Child Care facility, Kindergarten or Early Childhood Program Preferred
· Minimum age 18 years

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
· Frequently walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talks or hears.
· Stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.
· May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Able to demonstrate a full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb, sit or otherwise be able to fully participate in activities.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
