Job description
The South Portland School Department is a vibrant community of 3100 PreK-12 students. We are seeking educators who have experience working with racially, linguistically, and economically diverse youth and their families. Our students speak more than 30 different languages, and at least 1 in 5 students is a multilingual learner. Candidates with experience working within Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) are preferred.Next year South Portland will open a 4th PreK classroom in the district for students who are 4 years old. This classroom will be a 50/50 Inclusion Model for students with special education services and same age peers. The classroom will be co-taught with a regular education and special education teacher, and supported with an educational technician. We are seeking new staff who are excited to establish this new classroom and are committed to collaborative co-taught experiences.
Our PreK student day is 8:30-1:30.
