The Certified Nursing Assistant assists with resident care throughout nursing areas under the direction of licensed personnel.

In the execution of job duties, it is the universal expectation that all tasks are performed with a patient centered focus, while also seeking opportunities to continually improve core processes. Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need, which may include but is not limited to: holidays, extended shifts, night and/or weekend shifts, standby and/or on-call. Reports to: Director of Nursing, or Resident Care Director

Essential Functions

Assists patient with activities of daily living (ADLs) and documents accordingly. Assists patient with feeding and/or meals as assigned and documents accordingly.

Collects and documents patient information as needed (including weights and vital signs). Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly. Changes linens of occupied / unoccupied beds.

Attends to patients' needs promptly, answers call lights and requests without delay. Promotes communication with residents to maintain and restore reality orientation.

Transfers, moves and repositions patients as assigned. Provides for safe transport of
patients through the institution. Appropriate measures are taken to escort patients into and
out of the facility.

Demonstrates proper infection control practice and adheres to Infection Control Policies and Procedures and OSHA standards. Implements bowel and bladder training program as appropriate.

Appropriately obtains, stores, and labels specimens. Effectively and accurately utilizes appropriate transportation system, ensuring safe delivery of specimen(s).

Assists with post mortem care including transport to the morgue.

Non-Essential Functions

Makes it a practice to take charge of self-development by soliciting feedback, setting priorities and then acquiring or strengthening skills and knowledge through coursework or other methods. Makes it a point to put new skills and knowledge to use on the job in a timely and effective manner.

Assists with orientation and training of others as directed.

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent X Preferred Required

Age 16 or older required

Preferred: CNA experience.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
