Duties

• Complete installation, modification and repairs of various plumbing systems and equipment.
• Test systems and equipment after completing work to ensure proper circulation, pressure, flow and leak-free joints.
• Install reduced pressure backflow valves to protect water supplies from contamination.
• Install fire sprinklers to ensure supply systems provide adequate pressure and flowrate.
• Maintain and repair wet and dry pipe fire sprinkler systems.
• Determine the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and operation of various plumbing systems.
• Perform chemical sampling and chemical adjustments for the installation swimming pools.
• Apply shop mathematics to layout angles, arcs and circles required to perform plumbing installation.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• Incumbent must obtain (within 6 months of employment) and maintain Backflow certification.
• This position is subject to call back, to include weekends and holidays, to perform emergency repair work.
• This job requires considerable standing, stooping and bending. The employee is required to work on ladders and scaffolds which frequently involve working in uncomfortable or awkward positions.
• Work is performed both inside and outside. The employee is exposed to mud and water, and is subject to infection from unsanitary work sites.
• Injury may occur from use of power and hand tolls and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
