Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for overseeing the administration and implementation of the city's planning program and for managing the operations of the Planning Division. Some major duties include:

• Coordinates, oversees and evaluates the activities, programs and services of the Planning
  Division.
• Provides technical advice to the Director on administrative and policy matters affecting the
  overall operations of the division and on matters related to current and potential work
  issues.
• Monitors all development and funding review processes of the division to ensure the
  effective evaluation of applications and to ensure compliance with applicable regulations,
  policies and procedures.
• Develops and implements division operating procedures, policies and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Master's degree preferred.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the
  division/department, usually interpreted to require five years of progressively responsible experience.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• An AICP Certification.
