Position Summary
The Planner coordinates, schedules, and manages parts supply and process flow from receipt of product to final shipment while assuring company production line balances, communicating concise scheduling goals, and minimizing inventory levels while satisfying contractual delivery dates.

Job Duties
  • Formulates the master production schedules, including both material procurement and manufacturing schedules to ensure the effective use of labor, tools, and equipment to meet overall objectives of the company.
  • Utilizes the enterprise resource planning system (ERP) for planning and production schedules and to update and maintain master data, ensuring ERP works properly.
  • Establishes alternate plan(s) to meet schedules if unusual problems or necessary changes arise.
  • Periodically meets with Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, and Quality Assurance to coordinate activities, vendor information, and recommend plans to achieve production goals.
  • Evaluates engineering change requests and notices and their impact while insuring the consumption of existing materials and the implementation of new or revised materials.
  • Creates, reviews, and incorporates reports designed to monitor status, progress, and guide other departments in meeting their scheduled objectives.
  • Initiates purchase requisitions for material and gun parts required to support manufacturing.
  • Issues and manages work orders and monitors the router system to assure integrity of the Work in Progress (WIP) and labor distribution records.
  • Supplies accurate data and information to all company departments for proper forecasting and capacity and material planning.
  • Collects and analyzes production data to identify and eliminate schedule constraints to support timely customer shipments.
  • Expedites manufactured and purchased parts through all departments to assure product flow throughout the facility to ensure on-time and in-full customer shipments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
A high school diploma is required. An associate degree in business is preferred.

Experience Requirements
Five years of production planning and scheduling experience is required. Two years of experience will be accepted with an associate degree.

Skills and Competencies
All FN America employees are expected to demonstrate accountability, collaboration, communication, customer focus, and innovation. Additional requirements of this position include:
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with an emphasis upon spread sheet development. Progress experience is a plus.
  • Ability to plan multiple product lines concurrently if required.
  • Practical understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Understanding of the basic principles of ISO and A59100.
  • Experienced in the pre-planning activities necessary to analyze production capabilities to quote customer's requests for bids.
  • Analytical skills necessary to review diverse planning data to establish the basis for reliable forecast and the generation of Management Authorization Memorandums (MAM) or the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated abilities in the creation of spread sheets and problem solving analysis.

Microsoft Office; including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, SAP, Windchill, IBP

Licenses/Certifications
APICS or CPIM certification preferred

Working Conditions
May be exposed to dangerous machinery and loud noises with temperature extremes. Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
