Patient Placement Specialist
Job description
The Patient placement Specialist is primarily responsible for connecting new patients to a primary care physician, and completing the necessary steps to register and schedule an appointment. This position works in collaboration with COPC physician offices to ensure the new patient encounters a successful transition of care. Additional responsibilities include supporting new and retiring physicians and preadmission testing and follow up and scheduling. This is a full time roll working M-F first shift hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process new patient requests online and via phone. The process includes providing guidance to patients, registration and scheduling into an electronic health record system.
- Verify insurance eligibility to confirm the patient has coverage and to ensure the provider is in network with the member’s plan.
- Communicate to PCP preadmission testing requests, follow the process until the patient’s results are communicated to the specialist.
- Outreach to patients when a physician departs or retires.
- Outreach campaigns to patients when assigned to the department.
- Attend department and other related meetings. Collaborate with team to distribute workload and prioritize department needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education, Licensures & Certifications
- High school diploma required
- Minimum 1-2 years medical office related experience preferred

- Excellent verbal, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to execute job duties with precision and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and together as a team
- Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently to complete work timely
- Possess a positive attitude
- Possess strong problem solving, critical thinking skills
- Demonstrate clear knowledge of Central Ohio Primary Care’s clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols
