Kapi'olani Medical Specialists (KMS) is a specialty physician group dedicated to caring for Hawai'i's women and children through excellence in academics, physician training, medical research and clinical care. The group is comprised of over 100 Specialists, Nurse Practitioners and other staff, covering newborn to women's health services at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children. KMS operates exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes, offering highly specialized care options at Kapi'olani and building support for these services within Hawai'i as a whole. The group’s specialty areas include: Neurology, Orthopedics,Genetics, Adolescent Medicine, Otolaryngology, Behavioral Health Services, Hematology/Oncology, Neonatology, Pediatric Intensive Care, Family Medicine and the full spectrum of Pediatric Specialties. Its Women's specialists include Breast and General Surgery, Adult Hospitalists and GYN Oncology.

In addition to their physical health, we recognize that mental and emotional states can also enhance or hinder treatment and recovery. When everyday challenges are heightened by a personal illness or an illness in the family, patients can experience significant anxiety, depression, or other difficulties. Kapi‘olani’s Behavioral Health Service (KBHS) help patients and their families manage these concerns by providing services designed to meet the behavioral health needs of patients who are being treated in the hospital or as follow-up care for women and children who are being seen in our outpatient clinics. We provide on-site psychiatric and psychological services for our patients, and KBHS is a training site for the University of Hawai‘i School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry.

If you are compassionate and empathetic, you could be our next Patient Navigator and play a crucial role in initiating the management of service activities for specific oncology and/or chronically ill patient populations. Your responsibilities include facilitating multidisciplinary communication and providing expert oversight of patient care plan including education information to support system initiatives and achieve optimal patient outcomes. Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai’i Social Work license. Two (2) years of clinical social work experience in area of specialty demonstrating abilities for self-management, critical thinking, problem resolution, and proven ability to work with diverse personalities and situations.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous social work experience in an oncology or health care setting.
