Summary

A Parts Expeditor is responsible for ensuring that our Service Departments has the Parts needed to make customer ordered repairs. Will work under the direction of Parts Departments Manager and serve the service technicians as their primary customer. An understanding of the Parts Department inventory is needed to be successful. Communicating with suppliers about the status of inventory, problem-solving to reduce the impact of late shipments, the return of defective parts, and warrantied parts is part of the responsibilities of this position. The Expeditor will help enhance the efficiency of business, particularly in retrieving and resourcing and returning parts. The Parts Expeditor will also be asked to wait on retail customers at the parts counter, as well as participate in the retail operation. The position requires strong organizational abilities to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Retrieve parts and deliver them to the Service Department.
• Collaborates with service technicians to ensure all parts are available, in a timely manner, for all repair jobs.
• Contact / assess alternate vendors if primary vendors are out of stock.
• Contact vendors/manufacturers for defective parts and warranty collections.
• Communicates with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates and informs Service Departments of potential delays.
• Ensures interdepartmental communication for improved coordination of productive operations.
• Monitors delivery timelines.
• Provides a complete and accurate written timeline for parts delivery.
• Checks on progress of parts deliveries throughout the day. Contacts customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time, explains cost and time requirements in detail, and gets proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed.
• Reviews repair orders to ensure that work is completed, and additional work and authorization is noted. Closes repair order as appropriate.
• Implements a quality control process to eliminate comebacks.
• Work with/communicate with vendors to execute the return of defective and customer-returned parts.
• Assist with receiving and shelving inbound freight.
• Maintains a professional appearance.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of commonly used practices, procedures and concepts in Services and Parts Departments.
• Experience in parts, repair or ownership.
• Ability to research and analyze various different types of data information.
• Competent to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues.
• Good communication and writing skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and accuracy
• Work independently as well as with team members

Education/Experience:

• High School/G.E.D
• Minimum One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred experience in Motorcycles
• Preferred Dealership Experience

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in United States.
• Must provide own transportation and have a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance.
• Pass a background check.
• Pass a Drug Screen.
• Class M1 License Preferred (Class M1-You may operate any two-wheel motorcycle, motor-driven cycle, or motorized scooter and all vehicles listed under Class M2)

Compensation:

• Hourly Range: $18 -$25, non-exempt hourly, DOE
• Non-Exempt, Hours 40 hours per week, flexible hours depending on needs, may require evening and/or weekend work.
