PARTICIPANT SERVICES SCHEDULER

Title: Participant Services Scheduler

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Work Schedule: 18 hours per week, TBD

Job Description/Summary:

The Participant Services Coordinator advances Cancer Connection’s mission and spirit through offering warm and professional interactions with participants while scheduling activities and educational programs. Cancer Connections offerings support participants in coping with the varied ways that cancer affects them. The Participant Services Coordinator is responsible for integrative therapies, special events, workshops, and programs scheduling. This position works in collaboration with the Center Director, Office Assistant, Befrienders, and other staff as needed.

Immediate Supervisor: The Center Director

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

·Treat everyone who calls or visits the center with warmth, empathy, and professionalism.

Manage scheduling for individual participants for integrative therapies, special events, workshops, and programs both at the Center and at other locations.

· Offer calm, empathic listening and peer support to participants, following the Befriending Skills Guidelines.

· Describe and offer support services, integrative therapies, programs, and support groups to people with cancer and their families/loved ones who visit or call.

· Answer phones and check messages throughout work shift and process messages, return calls or relay information to other staff.

· Communicate with the facilitators of support groups, integrative therapies and programs for referrals and other information.

· Maintain communications with Senior Befriender/Center Director.

· Contribute to external communications as appropriate

Requirements:

- Commitment to the mission of Cancer Connection.

- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent education and experience.

- Experience in a human services position that includes being in a listening and supportive role.

- Ability to interact with co-workers, participants, facilitators, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and the community in a professional and polite manner.

- Ability to keep precise documentation

- Ability to provide deeply empathic listening and support to people affected by cancer, including those newly diagnosed or who may be in hospice.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-building management style.

- Excellent skills and experience with MS Office, databases, email systems and written documentation.

- Ability to set goals/timelines and meet those deadlines.

Physical Demands/Requirements /Working Conditions: The physical environment is an office setting that is sensitive to individuals who are experiencing cancer-related health concerns and compromised immune systems. This position will connect with participants and caregivers who are experiencing a cancer diagnosis. The person in this position speaks with participants on the phone, by email and in person. Administrative job functions are mainly performed in a stationary position, while using a computer. This position may be requested to work outside of regular hours for Cancer Connection events.

Mission: Cancer Connection is dedicated to encouraging and guiding people living with cancer and their loved ones along the cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.

Purpose: Cancer Connection’s purpose is to provide a haven where people with cancer, their loved ones and caregivers can learn to cope with the physical and emotional turmoil that is part of a cancer diagnosis and to explore ways to enhance their strength, their hope, and their care through support groups, integrative therapies, creative activities, and education. All services are offered free of charge.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
