Kennicott Helping Hands Childcare

Special Needs Aide

We are looking for someone who would be able to give the attention that our kids who have trouble functioning in a “normal” classroom environment the attention that they deserve. We have several special needs children in our care, and it has become too difficult to care for all of them in addition to our growing number of other children. You would be the key touchpoint for these children, guiding them throughout the day, the monitor of positive social interaction between them and the other children, integrating them into our classroom.

Compensation:

• Wages $19.15
• 30 Hour Week
• Promotion, training and growth opportunities, paid time off

Special Needs Aide Job Responsibilities:

• Maintaining a consistent and safe environment for students.
• Assisting and accompanying children in all activities throughout the day.
• Supporting teacher/teacher assistant in implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and behavior plans for assigned student(s).
• Assisting educators in devising strategies to reinforce materials and skills to students.

Skilled Laborer Qualifications/Skills:

• Patience
• Kindness
• Must be able to keep students safe from themselves and others and in some cases may need to implement CPI procedures.
• Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations and in some cases be able to lift a child.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent is an asset
• Previous experience in childcare preferred
• CPR/First Aid Training, STARS Hours, Food Handler Certification Preferred
