Job description
- Develop and implement weekly lesson plans with direction from Creative Curriculum and Second Step
- Plan and organize physical setting, curriculum, and student activities to promote a literacy and mathematics rich environment of successful learning
- Foster a positive environment to support the academic, social and emotional development of students
- Develop lesson plans for the Smartboard to be utilized during small groups, large groups and choice time
- Assess student progress, using Teaching Strategies Gold to meet the needs of individual students
- Effectively involve parents in children's learning activities
- Provide effective direction and support for education assistant
- Provide systematic and developmental evaluation and assessment to be included in the child’s cumulative record
- Display sensitivity to families regarding their culture and diversity
- Collaborate with kindergarten teachers for aligning curriculum and instruction
- Other duties as assigned
- Current Minnesota teaching license with Early Childhood/Prekindergarten endorsement required
- Experience with diverse, multicultural children and families
- Ability to work effectively with children and parents
- Ability to collaborate and work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Smartboard programs
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
- Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, patience, problem solving and flexibility
- Experience in administering required early childhood assessments
