Position Title:

Part-time High School and College Coach
(Bilingual Spanish & English Preferred)

Division:

Puente del Pueblo
Outreach partners with Wheaton Bible Church and Iglesia del Pueblo to form Puente del Pueblo, which serves the residents of both the Timber Lake and Main Park apartment complexes in West Chicago. Programs include case management, adult literacy, ESL tutoring, after school programs for elementary, junior high, and high school students and community events. Outreach provides the leadership staff for this program.

Job Responsibilities:

The High School and College Coach will establish effective coaching relationships with a group of 15-20 students by motivating them towards their best work and academic performance. Specific responsibilities include coaching on academic skills, implementing SAT prep curriculum, collaborating with volunteers, staff and the students’ school personnel, assisting high school seniors through the college process, job search and interview skill development, and record keeping. This position will transport students to and from program as needed, assist with program set up / tear down, light cleaning and organization.

Requirements:

A passion for establishing coaching relationships with students; Bachelor’s degree in education, youth ministry or a related field; previous classroom teaching, coaching, or group experience with high school age students; professional and relational presence; clear verbal and written communication ability; sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, culturally-diverse families and backgrounds. Valid IL driver’s license and good driving record. A Commitment to Outreach’s Statement of Mission and Faith is required. Bilingual in Spanish & English is strongly preferred.

Status:

Part-time at an average of 25 hours per week.
Summer Hours: Monday – Friday from 11am – 4pm.
Academic Year Hours: Monday – Friday from 2pm – 7pm.
Hours vary during school breaks and holiday weeks. Extended hours and traveling budget available during Spring Break.

Compensation:

Compensation for this position falls between $16.50 and $19 per hour based on education, skills, experience, and language ability.
