Position Title: Assistant Teacher

Reports to: School Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

Under the support and direction of the Lead Teacher, assists in the operations of an assigned classroom to ensure Celebree mission, vision and values are upheld, and children are provided with a developmentally age-appropriate learning environment.

Qualifications:

This position requires entry-level knowledge and understanding of behavioral and developmental stages of children; beginning knowledge of State licensing regulations; ability to assist in the management of a classroom, including strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and problem-solving skills; patience, flexibility. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

Essential Functions:

• Assists in managing the classroom, ensuring compliance with all regulations, company standards, policies, and procedures.
• Provides a welcoming & friendly classroom environment for children, parents & visitors.
• Assist in maintaining attractive and current classroom/hallway displays, and an educational and informative Parent Board updated regularly.
• Assists in creating and implementing thorough, timely lesson plans that are age-appropriate and stimulating, following Celebree’s curriculum.
• Assists in managing effective classroom transitions.
• Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children using positive and appropriate discipline techniques.
• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe classroom environment are appropriately maintained.
• Assists in completing all classroom paperwork.
• Attends all team meetings, training, and School events as requested; limits unscheduled absences.
• Presents a positive and professional image at all times, adhering to uniform requirements.
• Communicate effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns promptly, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on their child’s development and classroom happenings.
• Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the classroom/school and works with the Lead Teacher and Director to resolve them.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding families, co-workers, and self.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands represent those that an employee must meet to perform the job's essential functions successfully. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting, and carrying; ability to lift 50 pounds.

Education/Experience: Experience in the childcare industry preferred.

Specific Skills: Certification in CPR and First Aid. Ability and flexibility in working with various age groups.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
