Immediate need for unique caregiving opportunity working with two clients in a high end senior living community on First Hill. The first is a male client living with his wife in a high rise senior community on First Hill. This client has been living in this community for 5 years and recently has experienced cognitive decline. The primary role of the companion will be to help him continue to participate in the activities he enjoys but has missed during the pandemic. This includes visiting restaurants and museums, taking walks in area parks, attending lectures, exercising and discussing current events. There will also be light personal care including bathing assist due to some balance issues. Caregiver must drive own vehicle. Parking will be provided on site.

The second client has similar needs. She is married and lives in the same community with her husband. She is suffering from dementia and the care plan will revolve around providing respite for her husband and to engage her in activities both in the community and in surrounding areas, including the UW Memory Hub.

The shift is part time, with exact days and times TBD, and the number of hours will likely grow over time. Each day will consist of time spent helping them organize their days and activities, joining them for those activities, and ensuring that he is taking care of their own needs. There will be some personal care as well as light housekeeping and meal prep. Our focus is on providing a high level of engagement and interaction, as well as excellent communication with the ComForCare office and the clients family.

This role requires someone who is creative, engaging and positive...someone who loves people. It is a unique opportunity to work with an interesting people who just want to continue living their very full lives independently. This will be a fun, interesting position with opportunities to add additional regular or fill in hours depending on availability and interest. Consistency, flexibility, and dependability are a must! The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a variety of social settings, including serving as a companion in social gatherings and attending events. Also, a bachelors degree and/or experience in arts, education, or other related fields would be a real advantage, as would comfort with preparing varying foods.

Must have up-to-date CNA or HCA, CPR, and WA State Food Worker's card.

Caregivers are needed for a variety of shifts and schedules, including both part-time and full-time, throughout the Greater Seattle metro area. Key Responsibilities:
  • Caregiving

Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or G.E.D certificate required, college degree preferred
  • Licensed to provide home care in Washington State. MUST have up to date HCA or CNA or be actively enrolled in program
  • At least 3 years experience as a Home Care Aide (in homes or facilities) desired, or other applicable experience
  • Be listed in good standing on with the Washington DSHS Background Check System
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must also have reliable transportation and be able to work throughout the Seattle metro area
  • Experience and comfort with holistic/integrative healthcare plus
