This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.

This position performs various administrative and substantive legal support tasks with supervision. The incumbent will regularly prepare and review legal documents and maintain various reports and files with limited supervision. This role will work across different areas requiring significant knowledge of a variety of legal concepts.

This position will focus on supporting the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) filing team by preparing regulatory filings and legal documents. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Busy season for filing work will be January through May each year. This position will also support other teams/functions as assigned. Maintain confidential and close responsive relationships within the department and throughout the Ameritas organization. Promote an ethical environment in providing proactive legal services implementing effective legal risk management.

This role has the express duty to comply with all applicable insurance laws and regulations and with approved company policies, practices and procedures related to ethical market conduct activities. This associate further has the responsibility to immediately report known or suspected violations of laws, regulations and company policies, practices, and procedures to the organization's chief compliance officer.

What you do

  • Work within a team setting to support required SEC filings within required timeframes.
  • Use GoFiler software to file documents with the SEC.
  • Support legal department’s management of contacts; use software to track, assign and store agreements.
  • Maintain and track fund information and process updates to fund information as needed.
  • Regularly act as point of contact with associates, business leaders, and individuals outside of Ameritas.
  • Assemble information for various periodic reporting; assists attorney to develop standardized forms for standard legal documents and requests, records management, and offsite storage/retrieval coordination.
  • Assist in fact-gathering documents related to audits; developing, organizing, and maintaining procedures for various reports, responses to inquiries, and other requests for information.
  • Assist in preparation of required filings, reports, agendas, and resolutions.
  • Communicate with many departments and officers to obtain necessary information.
  • Prepare and update memoranda, letters, agreements, and other complex legal documents under attorney supervision.
  • Regularly handle sensitive and/or confidential materials with the utmost confidence.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and participate in meetings.
What you bring

  • 0-2 years’ Experience in a Paralegal Role required
  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Internet usage required
  • Associate degree in paralegal or equivalent paralegal certificate preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience Paralegal studies preferred
  • Ability to learn role specific online filing system software and contract management system software required
