Job description
The Outside Sales Representative delivers sales of the company’s products and services within a defined geographic area. Ensures consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment, and margin management.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Achieves sales objectives by contributing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; and resolving customer problems.
- Maintains and expands customer base by building and maintaining rapport with key customers and identifying new customer opportunities.
- Recommends product lines by identifying new product opportunities, and/or product and service changes.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
- Manages an assigned geographic sales area or product line to maximize sales revenues and meet corporate objectives.
- Develops specific plans with Regional Sales Manager to ensure revenue growth in all company’s products.
- Collaborates with Regional Sales Manager to develop sales strategies to improve market share in all product lines.
- Focus on continued education by participating in programs/seminars in the areas of new account sales and growth, sales of emerging products and multi-product sales, profitability, improved presentation strategies, competitive strategies, proper use and level of sales support, management of expenses and business/financial issues on contracts.
- Provides quality leadership for Coastal Construction Product’s internal and external customers in all assigned tasks, while upholding Coastal Construction Products Values at all times: inclusive of constructive problem solving, facilitating creative improvements, and inspiring others.
- Achieves the revenue and profitability quotas for Coastal Construction Products as they are sold into all customer segments within territory. Establishes an environment and foundation for future sales growth.
- Works closely with credit department to ensure that we are protecting upcoming projects, keeping customers current, and informing them of any potential future issues that are observed out in the field
- Works closely with manufacturer reps to setup trainings for customers, stay up to date on new product offerings, and receive market intel from them
- Maintains a high level of communication with the branch inside sales team to inform them of upcoming projects, new products that are hitting the market, new customers that they are working with
- Assists in the branch helping customers when needed
- Communicates with our Sales Support Group regularly to ensure that customers are receiving quotes in a timely manner and quotes are linked and activated when needed
- Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or business administration is preferred; or a minimum of seven years of related experience or training in related field; or the equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
- Demonstrated record of leadership and achievement in a prior sales position.
- Strong closing skills. Prior attendance at formal sales training courses a plus.
- Ability to learn and retain product specific information and utilize to position the features and benefits to customers.
- Ability and means to travel as needed for delivery of materials to jobsites or customer facilities and participation in periodic branch inventories. (Would need to provide proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used.)
