The Role
The Network Implementation Engineer II will be required to perform both, Engineering and Construction Project Administrator (CPA) functions for this area. Engineering requires evaluating, planning and designing network build solutions with approved technology and architecture, and issuing the projects to Construction. The Engineer will coordinate with developers and builders for new development, meet with government entities for preservation road project/infrastructure work, and work closely with Operations for rehab and maintenance issues and resolve held service orders for their area. Will be required to analyze available inventory and submit permits using company systems and records. The Engineer will work with Edge Planning on projects and utilize contract engineering as needed. The Engineer will be responsible for CWIP and closure of all their projects in a timely manner. SiteTracker system will be used for all facets of job duties. In addition to Engineering, will be responsible for CPA functions for wire centers, including Ethernet/CDFS projects. The CPA duties will include coordinating, scheduling and inspecting all placement and splicing activities with the local LE contractor, meeting service dates, ensuring a quality product to Lumen and paying the vendor.
The Main Responsibilities
- Develops/defines plans for the implementation of new plant construction or modifications to existing facilities.
- Prepares plans and specifications, to include gathering field data.
- Assures that the most feasible, practical and economical means to complete the work are utilized. Provides cost data to support capital planning and budgeting.
- Monitors and controls project expenditures.
- Oversees the installation/construction and testing of plant facilities.
- Skilled in planning and/or engineering.
- Analyzes local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices.
- Resolves interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like.
- Configures systems to user environments.
- Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
- Work with Planning, Operations and all internal and external customers, maintain budget, and assist with forecasting budgets.
- Maintain positive interaction between all governing authorities.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Associates degree or equivalent education and relevant experience.
- 8 years related experience in telecommunications, engineering, or network planning or equivalent.
- Computer skills, including Email-Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
