We are seeking an experienced Optometric Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will work alongside our optometrist to provide top-quality eye care services to our patients. As an Optometric Technician, you will perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of eye disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary eye exams, including vision tests, visual field tests, and tonometry
- Set Up appointments and verifying insurance
- Collect and document medical history and relevant patient information
- Assist the optometrist during vision exams, including performing various diagnostic tests
- Perform specialized procedures such as retinal imaging, visual field testing, and corneal topography
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices, contact lens insertion and removal, and proper wear and care of eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Maintain and update patient records and schedule follow-up appointments as necessary
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure that all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained
- Participate in training and development opportunities to keep up-to-date with advances in the field of optometry
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in Optometric Technology or a related field preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills and experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
