Mountain View Eye Center is a fast paced, 3 doctor ophthalmology/optometry office located in Layton, UT. We want to generate a welcoming and helpful environment for all our patients and their eye care needs. We are looking for a friendly, skilled and motivated person to help keep Mountain View Eye Center the best eye care office around.

Our technicians are primarily responsible for performing diagnostic tests and chair-side assistance for our ophthalmologists and optometrist. OTJ training and certification assistance available.

Responsibilities and Duties

-Record patient history, chief complaint, and necessary health information

-Perform various ancillary testing (i.e.: visual acuity, lensometry, visual fields, OCT, corneal topography, fundus photography, applanation tonometry, refractometry, etc.)

-Act as scribe for physician during examinations

-Provide assistance to ophthalmologist or optometrist during examinations and in-office procedures

-Complete patient-related forms

-Escort patients to front desk after exam and ensure proper follow-up appointments are made and patients with eyeglass prescriptions meet the optician before leaving.

-Perform other tasks as requested/required by ophthalmologist, optometrist, or head ophthalmic technician

-Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills, prescription authorizations, and patient care questions.

Qualifications and Skills

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-Personable, respectful, kind, and empathetic with patient needs and concerns

-Excellent time management

-Good with computers, MS Word, MS Excel, email, practice management/electronic health records, etc.

-Ability to multitask

-High attention to detail

-Organized

-Team-oriented

-Problem-solver

-High school diploma or equivalent

-Basic understanding of algebraic math

-Knowledge of ophthalmic and general medical terminology

-Fluent in English, bilingual preferred

-Excellent spelling ability

-Ophthalmic Technician experience preferred

-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred

Physical Abilities

-Must be able to read fine print

-Must be able to manipulate small objects

-Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting

-Must be able to type 45 wpm or faster

-Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods

-Must be able to assist patients with ambulation and transportation, as necessary

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $30.00 per hour
