This role sits within the Operations Team in the Chief Operating Office in Oncology R&D. The Operations Manager reports to the Director Operations Oncology R&D and will be allocated to ORD functions based on need. The role provides specific support on business operations and is responsible for day to day, activities to ensure the various services provided are robust, implemented in a timely manner and fit for purpose.

Business operations includes a range services, examples of which include:

  • Scorecard development and monitoring
  • Footprint planning and management
  • Risk monitoring and mitigation planning
  • Global operational/business as usual (BAU) processes and initiatives such as Performance Development timetable, MTP/LTP, Learning & Development, etc

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quarterly scorecard, KPI and metric monitoring working with relevant team members. Collate input and distribute periodic follow ups to the Leadership Team
  • Support BPO in the preparation and review of the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) or end of year reports
  • Provide support for ad hoc BPO requests, these may be reports or special projects such as office moves
  • Monitor risks by promoting timely and accurate reporting across the function, track action plans and critical issues
  • Support AZ internal audit and local functional audits by coordinating auditees and information requests, ensure awareness of internal audit dates and plans. Use output of audits to motivate change and improvement.
  • Ensure Saba is maintained and roles aligned to relevant training to improve business performance and efficiency
  • Identify lessons and business process change needs and ensure they are tracked and implemented
  • Support BPO with MTP planning, coordination and the narrative

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Highly customer orientated
  • Experience with senior collaborator and partner management
  • Highly developed organisational and project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Broad experience in a wide range of sectors, functions and processes
  • Strong critical thinking, judgment and influencing skills
  • Good leadership attributes to set direction, generate commitment, balance short and long term needs,
  • Constructively resolve issues
