POSITION SUMMARY

:
The Operations Analyst will gather, research, and analyze data to support the Commercial, Retail, and Residential property teams. This position will help the team make well-formed business decisions based on their analysis by supporting the budget process, creating simulation models for process, software, and technology implementations, providing accounts payable and accounts receivable analytics, and assisting with contract bidding and property occupancy analysis.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

:
  • Prepare expense benchmarking analyses to identify where cost savings can be made or where performance can be improved in building operating costs.
  • Assist the team in creating operational efficiencies and cost savings across the commercial, retail, and residential portfolio.
  • Perform vendor analysis and research.
    • Monthly Master Contracts Accounts Payable Research and Reporting
    • Monthly Property Accounts Receivable Reporting
    • Monthly Expense Variance Research and Reporting
    • Master Contract Bid Document Analysis
    • Cost Simulation, Scenario Analysis, and Data Validation
  • Prepare the master expense budget assumptions for all corporate assumptions that are allocated to the properties and all master contract assumptions that are managed by the Operations team.
  • Prepare monthly property-level occupancy tracking and reporting.
  • Perform research and run reports from the various applications in the JBG SMITH portal.
  • Routine and special projects as assigned and lead project management workflows for assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS)

:


TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel necessary.
  • Intermediate capabilities with other programs and the operation of a PC in general. Ability to learn and effectively use internal accounting and other software packages.
  • Clerical skills: type 40-50 wpm, meticulous record-keeping, and organized file maintenance.
  • Strong analytical skills, including accurately collecting, interpreting, organizing, and evaluating detailed data.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Composed demeanor, professional appearance, positive attitude, and customer-oriented approach are priorities for this position.
  • Exercises good judgment and is tactful; discreetly handles sensitive personal and confidential personnel matters and information.
  • Ability to keep processes moving forward and take the initiative as appropriate.
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable, dependable with excellent attendance, flexible, and versatile.
  • Must be confident and capable when communicating with customers inside and outside the Company.
  • The ability to work well under pressure.
