Aspirus Wausau is currently seeking an ONCOLOGY NURSE EDUCATOR in Wausau, Wisconsin to work at Aspirus Regional Cancer Center.
The Aspirus Oncology Nurse Educator is a clinician who functions as an active health advisor and advocate throughout the process of a patient’s cancer journey, including patient education with initial chemotherapy treatment and at their survivorship visit. Primary responsibilities include providing patient education, answering questions about their chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment, survivorship as it relates to an oncology patient by serving as the Survivorship Coordinator, arranging appropriate follow-up if emotional and social needs arise that require specific intervention, and leading nurse education initiatives within the clinic.
The Oncology Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse who assumes the responsibility and accountability for the provision of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care provided that incorporates evidence based practice. A key aspect of the work of Nursing is to continually improve the quality of nursing care by collecting and analyzing data.
The Registered Nurse works within the Professional Practice Model of Aspirus. The Professional Practice Model is a set of values and beliefs that provide a context for a nurse’s clinical practice and decisions made in the provision of nursing service as defined below:
Hours: This position is Full Time; 1.0 FTE or 80 hours per pay period.
Experience/Qualifications
- Knowledge of oncology clinical care and a Bachelor's Degree in nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology or related field.
- Possesses an active Wisconsin RN nursing license.
- Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin, and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. - Completion and maintenance of Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification within 90 days of hire.
- OCN certification preferred.
