We provide rehabilitation services across the continuum - acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and in community settings such as senior centers, work sites, and schools and colleges. Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) who has a passion for outpatient neuro and orthopedics. Position is with our Meriden office. This office is a multi-discipline facility offering Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech Therapy (SLP). It services a wide range of patient conditions including Orthopedics, Movement Disorders/Parkinson's/Neuro conditions, Lymphedema, headaches, back/neck pain, gait/balance, vestibular conditions, and concussion management. This office focuses on a team approach to treatment in order to maximize the functional return of our patients. We utilize functional based approaches to exercise and activity with our patients and include manual therapy and modality treatments as necessary.

Position Description

The Occupational Therapist (OT) independently evaluates patients' level of function and determines, develops, and implements individualized treatment goals and plans in alignment with the patient/caregiver goals. The Occupational Therapist (OT) determines treatment strategies and delivers Occupational Therapy services that promote health and wellness, prevent injury or disability, improve and develop self-dependency and maintenance, productivity, leisure, perceptual motor function, rest, mental, cognitive physical, sensory-perceptual, psychosocial developmental, and emotional wellbeing in a variety of contexts and environments in order to maximize function in the areas of daily living, leisure/recreation, and productivity/work.

This colleague will have the opportunity to develop skills and expand their knowledge in the treatment and management of both orthopedic and neurological conditions by:

  • Evaluating patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, ranging from Movement Disorders and CVA to shoulder and hand injuries
  • Creating individualized Plan of Care to meet patients' goals
  • Developing competence in amplitude-based exercises (LSVT BIG or PWR!) to address movement disorders
  • Providing appropriate and safe exercise plan for patients, with modifications to functional ability as needed
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team including PT, OT, SLP

Qualifications

  • Outpatient ortho and neuro experience preferred; Will consider new graduates!
  • Ability to work independently and support the growth of our facility
  • Graduate of Occupational Therapy Program from an accredited American Occupational Therapy Association school, BS degree or entry level master's degree
  • Current Occupational Therapist License required
