Position Title: OBM Crew Member – Barista

Location: Olalla Bay Market & Landing, 13965 Crescent Valley Rd. SE, Olalla, WA 98359

Operating Hours: Wednesday – Sunday, 8:00am – 9:00pm

Position Category: Full Time or Part Time

Salary Level: $15.74 / hr. (minimum wage) + tips*

Olalla Bay Market & Landing is a family-owned and operated, community-focused business located in beautiful downtown Olalla. The property includes a small grocery store, pizza restaurant, public meeting space, private mailboxes and a vacation rental apartment. GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
OBM Crew Members are responsible for creating a welcoming, friendly atmosphere for guests and providing best of class service each day. We are seeking crew members with a passion for craft beer and customer service. A typical shift will include pouring beer and wine for customers, offering recommendations based on patron's personal likes, warming and serving pretzels, taking pizza/salad orders, processing payments, and more.

During periods of downtime, candidates are expected to take on cleaning tasks such as wiping down tables, taking out the trash, taking bus tubs back to the kitchen, filling water for the self-serve station and tidying retail merchandise throughout the market.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Process cash and credit transactions using a point of sale system;

2. Prepare and serve orders including beverages such as draft beer, wine (for 21+) and espresso;

3. Prepare food orders such as heating sandwiches and pretzels, serving ice cream and pastries;

4. Help maintain adequate stock of all product and materials required to maintain a smooth customer experience;

5. Prepare dining room for service and help maintain a clean and sanitary environment by sweeping, mopping, wiping down, clearing and sanitizing tables, monitoring and tidying bathrooms as needed or as assigned;

6. Monitor and maintain the supply of utensils, napkins and condiments at self serve counter;

7. Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies;

8. Help patrons select food and beverages by speaking to menu when asked; suggesting menu items; explaining seasonal specials; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions;

9. Properly shut down and clean key equipment related to assigned shift, such as beer taps;

10. Support back of house activities when assigned such as ingredient prep, dish washing, etc.;

11. Speak to classes and community meetings offered in The Landing building and general Olalla history, when applicable;

12. Other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Director of Operations and Shift Leads, as assigned

WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Other OBM Crew Members

DIRECT SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred at least 1 year experience serving beer and wine;

- Current WA food handler card;

- Current Class 12 Mixologist Permit.

- Willingness to cross-train and perform duties across the business.

TIP POLICIES:
- All credit card tips will be included on bi-weekly paychecks;

- Cash tips will be pooled and shared equally by hourly staff and distributed weekly;

- Hourly staff, no matter what duty performed during their shift, will receive an equal share of tips from tickets run during their shift;

- Management does not share in tips.
