Nutrition Services Manager- Lee and DeSoto Counties

The Nutrition Services Manager oversees the Nutrition Program in Lee and DeSoto counties, including all dining sites and Home Delivered Meal Programs for clients over the age of 60. Each dining site is staffed with an Activities Coordinator who serves the meals and promotes social interaction amongst seniors. This is a hands on management position which is responsible for managing staff, dining sites, food delivery and related program tasks. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required. The position also fills in for Activities Coordinators as needed.

The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who enjoys working with people, has a positive and outgoing personality with the ability to foster a fun and caring hospitality centered environment. The abilities to effectively manage people, communications and the logistics of a food services program are required for this position.

The Senior Friendship Centers serves nearly 300,000 meals each year to older adults at dining sites in Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte and Lee Counties. At the Senior Friendship Centers, we build vibrant communities by advancing wellness, connection, and enrichment throughout the journey of aging. Older adults in Southwest Florida rely on Senior Friendship Centers for help with nutrition, adult day services, social engagement, education, help in times of crisis, and so much more.

Essential Functions:

Operational-

· Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate the work of the Nutrition department employees and volunteers. Make frequent personal and telephone contact and oversee routes to provide supervision, support, answer questions, and resolve problems.

· Oversee the ordering, portioning, packaging, delivery of congregate and home delivered meals, take service requests and resolve client transportation and food delivery issues, coordinate home delivered meal routes to ensure quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction.

· Assure full compliance and training to meet all federal funding and local funding requirements; including but not limited to the accurate compilation and submission of weekly reports on dining sites and home delivered meals activities, including tracking of meals, data entry, reconciliation of paperwork, and submission to the Nutrition Director and the fiscal staff, as applicable.

· Responsible for all recordkeeping to support monitoring visits, audits, and other evaluations.

· Responsible for complete and current dining client files/assessments.

· Attend Health Fairs, Expos for outreach, and volunteer recruitment. Participate in fundraising and outreach activities to promote the organization’s mission.

· Oversee and manages all internal data and sequencing of Home Delivered Meals.

· Coordinate the Nutrition consultant and food service providers to arrange for well-coordinated and quality service delivery. Arrange emergency meals as authorized. Work with and assist Area Agencies and other funders' needs and with monitoring visits.

· Oversee work of dining site; advisory councils; attend quarterly meetings, prepare agenda, and approve new members.

· Conduct and/or delegate “HDM Only” client assessments.

· Maintain all client files and documentation for “nutrition only” clients. Refer clients to Case Management when non-nutrition-based needs arise.

· Ensure processes and protocols are in place to collect, account for, and arrange for or provide the delivery of donation deposits to designated destinations; prepare reports on dining site activity; attend periodic meetings with supervisor, caterer representatives, other site managers, and nutrition specialists.

· Provide recommendations regarding expenditures. Responds to questions from other departments.

· Backup support to Nutrition staff in their absence, or where needed to fulfill program obligations and make regular site visits to all congregate sites to ensure compliance.

· Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Nutrition Services Assistant Manager, Nutrition Coordinators, and volunteers.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:

· Requires Associate’s Degree in Social Science, Food Service Manager, or related field, or commensurate professional experience to provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfactorily perform in this position. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

· Two years of experience in a supervisory capacity is required.

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, not required.

· Intermediate computer skills are required; Must have experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other basic computer software and hardware, and the ability to quickly learn the organization’s systems.

· Experience presenting to public groups is desirable.

Physical Demands:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and prolonged periods standing.

· Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

· Must be able to independently access various departments of a given location.

Travel:

· Travel will be required to complete assessments and operate congregate meal site locations.

· Travel within the several counties in which Senior Friendship Centers Inc. operates may be required as frequently as needed to support operations, fundraising, and outreach.

· Must have reliable transportation.

· A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required for all work-related travel.

Additional eligibility requirements:

· Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening, and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.

· Must be authorized to work in the United States.
