The Nurse Manager of Surgical Services will lead an outstanding unit in a hospital that is rated as a Great Places to Work. This busy Surgical Service Department, offering a wide array of inpatient and outpatient procedures, 9 Inpatient Operating Rooms, 2 Outpatient Operating Rooms, and 2 Interventional Radiology Suites. The Nurse Manager will also help lead a team of surgery / procedure schedulers who are the central nervous system of this large Perioperative Department. They make sure that procedure rooms aren’t overbooked and that the circulating staff know what’s coming up for them. The Director has led some amazing performance improvement initiatives over the past year, improving OR Turnaround time by over 15% and employee engagement scores by over 20%.

The Surgical Services Nurse Manager will report to the Administrative Director of Perioperative Services, and will oversee a large and experienced team. Directly reporting to the Manager is an experienced Operating Room Supervisor, three Surgical Charge Nurses who oversee Scrubbing and Circulating, three Registered Nurse First Assists (RNFA), and a Clinical Nurse Specialist who focuses in Surgical Services Education and Nursing Practice. Indirectly reporting to the manager are an additional 80+ FTEs primarily made up of Surgery Staff Registered Nurses (RNs) who scrub and circulate, Patient Care Technicians and Transport RNs, and other support staff.

As the Clinical and Administrative Leader for the Surgical Services Team, the Nurse Manager will take accountability for a wide range of budgetary, staffing, educational, and quality related activities.

• Staff Education and Development: continued clinical skill development across the unit
• Mentorship and Engagement: ongoing professional development of the Surgery team through quality and performance evaluation and shared accountability
• Budgetary Development and Oversight: working with finance team, materials management team, and OR Business Services team, support the development and maintenance of budgetary performance
• Performance Improvement and Clinical Quality: continued work on improving clinical outcomes, enhancing KPIs, and improving costs
