Job Description:
The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks a part-time nursing educator to join our progressive and innovative faculty, staff, and students. This can be a 9-month or 12-month appointment. The primary responsibilities will be teaching in your area of academic preparation and expertise and based on programmatic needs. Other responsibilities include serving on faculty committees, mentoring students, and evaluation of educational activities.
The qualified candidate will have:
demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds as well as with individuals at various organizational and educational levels
strong organizational, management, and leadership skills
excellent communication skills and the ability to convey enthusiasm for a nursing career
demonstrated excellence in a nursing education program
Required Qualifications:
Education : Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing; current Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Kansas or multi-state RN license issued by another Nurse Licensure Compact State
Work Experience : 1 year experience teaching in a nursing program
Skills : demonstrated ability to use technology in virtual and in-person academic environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Education : Doctorate in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
Work Experience : 2 or more years teaching in an undergraduate and/or graduate nursing program
Skills : Leadership in an academic program; experience in presenting and publishing about educational innovations
Job Duties Outlined:
Teaching in nursing programs according to educational preparation and program need
Collaboration with nursing faculty at KU School of Nursing
Participation in course and curriculum development
Service commitment to School and Medical Center's clinical, academic, and research partnerships
Developing and implements special projects as necessary
Other duties as assigned
