Job Summary:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) is responsible for high quality image acquisition, processing and enhancement for the physicians' interpretation. The NMT must be able to utilize the Gemms EMR for scheduling, DRM reports, and messaging. The NMT orders the isotopes, as well as the logging in of all isotopes to be used for each day. Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals. The NMT performs quality control of all equipment. (Dose Calibrator, SPECT and PET Cameras, Well Counter, GM meter, etc.) Will perform QC wipe test, area surveys for possible contamination with RaRx, waste disposal and any other duties assigned by the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor/Technical Director.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be certified by or eligible for the nuclear medicine technology certification board (NMTCB), ARRT (N) Certification.
- Must be a graduate of an approved nuclear medicine program; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- 1 year of work experience is preferred, but not required.
- Willing to continue education in Cardiac PET with emphasis on Myocardial Blood Flow.
- Desire to attain and practice high standard of image enhancement and interpretation.
- Desire to attain and practice excellent quality control or all imaging and non-imaging equipment.
- Adapts and is willing to learn new tasks, methods and systems.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Practice Management Systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
- Ability to work well with others in a professional manner within a team oriented environment.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Hard working, detail-oriented, technologist committed to outstanding patient care.
- Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and organization skills.
- A valid license as a nuclear medicine technologist issued by the NYSDOH required.
- The NMT orders the isotopes, as well as the logging administered radiopharmaceuticals.
- BLS required.

Physical Demands:
May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
