Job Overview:
This position is part of the front desk team, responsible for the safety and comfort of guests at our Seasonal Property in Old Orchard Beach. Our 68 room Inn is located directly on the Beach and open to guests from Mid-May to Mid-October.
We are looking to train the right candidate starting early June. The position will run from June through the third week of September.
This shift will run from approximately 8:00 pm to 3:00 am.
Starting pay is $18.00 per hour, paid weekly.
Employees staying through the end of the season will be eligible for an end of season bonus based on property performance and individual job performance
Qualifications:
Prior experience in hospitality is preferred
Responsibilities:
Ensure proper grooming and attire
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
Hearing and visual ability to detect signs of emergency situations
Ensure that designated entrances are locked at specified times in accordance to policy
Ensure security of guest rooms
Ensure compliance of Quiet Time Policy
Maintain awareness of undesirable persons on property premises and escort off property
Answer department telephone within three rings, using correct greeting and telephone etiquette
Greet guests immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Use a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to understand requests, respond with appropriate action and provide accurate information such as hours and property services
Respond to guest needs, special requests and complaints
Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended
Deliver and retrieve items/extra amenities as requested
Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
Maintain communication logs and ensure that guest requests are followed up within 15 minutes
Ability to effectively deal with customers, some of whom may require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger to collect accurate information.
Remain calm and alert especially during emergency situations, and times of heavy property activity.
Field guest complaints, conducting thorough research to develop the most effective solutions and negotiate results. Listen and extend assistance in order to resolve problems such as price conflicts, insufficient climate control, noise, etc. Plan and implement detailed steps using good sound judgment and discretion. Alert Overnight Manager and Front Office Manager if needed and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
Document pertinent information in department log book.
Complete a registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system and registration cards, confirming pertinent information including number of guests and room type. Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs. Non-verbally confirm the room number and rate. Provide welcome folders containing room keys and non-smoking policy, quiet time policy and where to obtain ice etc…
Verify and swipe credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods. Handle cash, make change and balance an assigned house bank.
Maintain certain amounts of cash drawer and effectively cash out with no errors.
Maintain complete knowledge at all times of:
all property features/services, hours of operation.
all room types, numbers, layout, decor, appointments and location.
all property and departmental policies and procedures.
Must have complete knowledge of emergency procedures
Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service; rectify deficiencies
Complete all paperwork and closing duties.
Physical activities include standing, talking hearing, seeing, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending.
Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as related to use of computer keyboards is possible.
