We are looking for a National Logistics Specialist. This role will be remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S.
Your Team
The Global Technical Office Team houses AGCS’S chief underwriting office, comprised of an ocean cargo, inland marine, and hull line of business. We’re one of the market leaders for marine insurance. The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Global Product Leader Cargo, The National Logistics Specialist - Inland Marine is responsible for achievement of the business case surrounding freight brokers. With particular emphasis on utilizing newfound product capabilities of contingent auto liability and errors & omissions coverages as ways to generate new business, this position is a nationwide leadership role that will leverage Allianz's marine production underwriters as production sources to our distribution partners. Must be expert level underwriting technician on both the freight broker space / logistics space, as well as contingent auto liability and errors & omissions regarding this segment.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
Product Development:
  • Serve as subject matter expert of contingent auto liability and errors & omissions for the Freight Broker industry segment
  • Research information on competitive trends, product line trends, producer trends and external environment, including legal, economic, demographic and distribution trends.
  • Recommend new and revised products and programs, underwriting standards, and procedures, and provide guidance on pricing within the regions.
  • Monitor product result and develops proposals to maximize profitability, including the review of claims/large losses/trends.
Business and Relationship Development with Broker Partners
  • Spearhead annual sales planning with key distribution partners, including business development, strategic engagement, retention initiatives, cross-selling opportunities (pipelining), and profitability
  • Develop NA Marine market potential
  • Manage internal and external delivery of Broker sales plans via strategic alignment and pipelining/cross-selling activities
  • Plan, manage, and deliver on broker segmentation strategy
Act as a Key Influencer and Resource to Underwriters and NA Distribution
  • Drive client-centric and “play-to-win” culture, behavior, and sales capabilities both within the NA Marine
  • Participate in execution of Sales Culture initiatives, including Sales training within NA Marne. Act as a LoB advocate to escalate new business opportunities, key renewals, and outstanding issues with senior management
  • Consistent and Disciplined approach to Line of Business Engagement, Communication, and Collaboration to ensure alignment with goals and priorities
Relationship Management
  • Positively represent AGCS externally to the market
  • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g., MMC, ARC, Claims, Operations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., risk managers)
Business Case Management
  • Key resources within Inland Marine for all freight broker activities, with particular emphasis on contingent auto liability and errors & omissions.
  • Achieve business case objectives as approved by the board

What You’ll Bring to the Role
  • Experience underwriting the following: domestic transportation, motor carriers, freight brokers, contingent auto liability, automobile liability insurance for truckers, loss of damage of cargo (motortruck cargo), errors and emissions, and auto excess liability. Someone who knows how to insure organizers of transport (logistics companies and freight brokers)
  • A mixture of experience between chief underwriting officer and underwriting management. With expertise creating underwriting strategy and guidelines in marine.
  • Significant experience in Underwriting profitable business in LoB. Specialized expert understanding of multiple sub-LoB products and portfolio
  • Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market
  • Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Business, Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline. And completion of a professional insurance qualification.
  • Specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements
  • Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework with experience working in complex, global matrix organization
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, intermediary operations, insurance laws and general business operations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of competition and marketing conditions
  • Knowledge of AGCS and competitor marketing, sales, and UW strategies for assigned LoB
  • Technical knowledge of Line of Business.
  • Portfolio Management including analysis of actuarial tables, trend analysis, CAT aggregates, etc.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $147,672 to $264,352. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AGCS total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
