We are looking for a National Accounts Construction Practice Leader - Liability in New York, Chicago, Alpharetta, San Francisco or Los Angeles

Your Team
The North American Liability team offers a wide range of general and specialist liability insurance solutions. These can be provided through individual primary policies, excess layers and umbrella policies, or global insurance solutions for multiple risks in multiple locations. We serve a diverse client list, which includes but is not limited to construction companies, manufacturers and technology companies.

The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Head of Liability North America, you will join the team as a National Accounts Construction Practice Leader – Liability and will oversee the underwriting operations of a portfolio of Construction Liability accounts on a national level. You will be responsible for implementing the underwriting strategy and for the results of the excess casualty construction business. This includes both new and renewal business for larger-sized construction accounts.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
  • Defining and overseeing the execution and performance of a casualty construction strategy in alignment with the Liability underwriting objectives, including working in conjunction with actuaries, other managers and underwriters to achieve and maintain profitability.
  • Developing a profitable risk appetite, e.g., creating, delegating and/or approving the risk selection, coverage and pricing of the underwriters.
  • Sharing information regarding emerging trends and conducting construction underwriting training.
  • Relationship management with key brokers, ensuring underwriters are meeting with them regularly and building a business pipeline.
  • Developing underwriter negotiation communication and general deal-making skills, including sharing best practices and ensuring underwriters are interacting with the Distribution Team.
  • Participating with other lines of business regarding cross-sell and up-sell initiatives, ensuring distinctive client value is delivered through all aspects of the AGCS engagement.
  • Demonstrating leadership in the casualty construction industry by participating in events and sending out regular communications.

What You’ll Bring to the Role
  • A minimum of 7 years of Casualty underwriting experience with Liability construction expertise from another carrier or within Allianz;
  • Experience building and fostering relationships internally across the organization and externally with our broker partners;
  • Previous cross-selling experience;
  • Portfolio steering experience;
  • Ability to develop and execute a profitable business strategy;
  • Outstanding technical skills with ability to analyze complex data/information from multiple sources;
  • Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally;
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and training staff;
  • Strong thought leadership skills with the ability to persuade and motivate others to act; and
  • Strong solution orientation, with an entrepreneurial spirit.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $147,672 - $264,352. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AGCS total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
