Job Summary


This is a short-term, benefits-eligible, full-time one-year-only teaching opportunity for academic year 23/24 beginning August 2023. Instructs instrumental classes within the Music Department such as concert bands, music education methods, conducting, chamber ensembles, jazz ensembles, humanities and other classes as necessary

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting
  • Develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials
  • Evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records
  • Prepares and grades exams
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops
  • Maintains office hours to assist and advise students
  • Participates in District wide and campus committees
  • Recruits for instrumental program.

Minimum Qualifications


The Academic Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:


A Master’s degree or higher with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field or a Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field is required.

AND

EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire

Desired Qualifications


A. Doctorate in Music Education or Music Performance

B. Full-time public or private school teaching experience

C. Teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher education

D. High level proficiency on wind, brass, guitar or percussion instrument

E. Recruiting experience at an institution of higher education and high school;

F. Administrative experience.

Special Working Conditions

  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required
  • Some travel may be required
  • May be required to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs

If you are hired into a one-year-only (OYO)/one-semester-only (OSO) benefits eligible position, once your assignment ends, you are ineligible for rehire into a part-time non-benefits eligible position (including Adjunct positions) or to continue working in a part-time non-benefits eligible position for a period of six months at the Maricopa Community Colleges.
