Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Minnesota Hillel as the Springboard Fellow. As a community builder, you'll inspire students to be partners in creating a vibrant and welcoming Jewish community. You will engage and work with underclassmen and transfer students across our main campus to coordinate programs based on student interest, attend Hillel events, and recruit for immersive experiences with Hillel. You'll use your stellar communication skills and active listening skills to develop relationships with students less engaged, and help them map a path to create a Jewish story that's relevant and exciting for them.

Minnesota Hillel already engages over 30% of their 1,100+ Jewish students, but could do more to create vibrant Jewish life on campus. experience, and create vibrant Jewish lives. This is so much more than your average 9-to-5. The Springboard Fellow will report to the Assistant Director.

About the Springboard Fellowship

The Springboard Fellowship is a paid, two-year fellowship that brings recent college grads with raw talent, passion, and skills needed to reimagine and redesign Jewish student life to college campuses across
North America. Trained in Adaptive Leadership, you will build on your entrepreneurial skills to drive change within an organizational system, including understanding the landscape, identifying opportunities for growth and change, mapping resources and stakeholders to identify how to move interventions from idea to reality and then designing with all of those insights in mind. To be successful in this position you must be team-oriented, entrepreneurial, and motivated by results. We're looking for people who embrace challenges, take risks, fail, and learn from the past, while maintaining their passion and sense of humor. Extensive Jewish education is not necessary — just an interest in creating a vibrant Jewish community, a commitment to learning, and the desire to make a difference in the lives of students.

What You'll Do

• Engage with 150 students 1:1
• Develop relationships with first & second-year Jewish students, as well as transfer students, by meeting them where they live, work and/or study, utilizing creative methods to reach and connect them to Jewish life and empower newly engaged students to create and implement meaningful Jewish experiences with and for their peers.
• Serve as an advisor for our first-year Hillel microcommunity, "Yalla".
• Work with students and staff to implement a wide range of programs, including Shabbat and holiday celebrations, social opportunities, social justice projects and Jewish learning opportunities.
• Partner with the Director of Jewish Student Life in overseeing 1:1 engagement efforts and supervising student interns who are responsible for engaging their peers in Jewish life on
  campus.
• Maintain participant tracking database (HEART).
• Recruit for in-depth learning and immersive experiences, including Birthright Israel trips.
• Work closely with the Assistant Director and Director of Jewish Student Life to be their right-hand in all things programmatic.

What You'll Bring to the Job

• Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of professional work experience. Relevant experience as a volunteer or professional in a Jewish organization is a plus.
• You'll be highly motivated, organized, and outgoing, thriving on conversations and connections.
• Ability to effectively engage students at all levels in Jewish life and to serve as a resource in a pluralistic setting.
• Ability to work flexible hours to engage students and attend events.
• You'll have a team-oriented approach to work, a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, an ability to take risks and learn from situations when things don't turn out the way you thought they would.
• You're comfortable with your Jewish self (or are actively figuring that out).
• An entrepreneurial spirit. Things may not always go according to plan and you must be willing to take risks and learn your wins as well as your losses.

What You'll Receive

• Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary for this role begins at $44,000 in year one of the Fellowship, and $46,500 in year two of the Fellowship.
