Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School seeks an experienced, collaborative, and energetic person to join the district for a position as the Middle School Dean of Students. Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School (AKFCS) provides an education to 1426 students in grades kindergarten through twelve, comprised of an Elementary, Middle and High School. AKFCS values flexible educators who possess an optimistic, growth-oriented mindset regarding learning, for themselves, staff, and students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively plans and executes systems to drive positive student behavior that creates an academics-focused culture of achievement.
  • Responsible for leading the school’s core behavior and character education programs.
  • Respond to issues related to behavior or discipline.
  • Works directly with students in developing positive student leadership through school and community authorization.
  • Responsible for transportation procedures, bus safety and bus discipline by ongoing communication with transportation providers.
  • Committed to helping students develop the interpersonal skills necessary for working effectively with others to become responsible, productive school and community members.
  • Resolved to create and maintain a safe environment in which we foster tolerance, self-respect, and integrity in each individual.
  • Responsible for implementing safety procedures as outlined in the school policies.
  • Coordinates attendance policy and reports for staff and students.
  • Prepares discipline data/reports monthly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of outstanding teacher experience.
  • Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of or eligibility for a Massachusetts Administrator License.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public education administration.
  • Knowledge, skill, and successful experience in the use and analysis of school performance data.
  • Skill, experience, and success in the use of information and instructional technology.
  • Possession of technology competency (e.g., database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications)
  • Skill and experience in data analysis and application.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • SEI Endorsement

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear, write, use their hands and fingers, manipulate keys on a keyboard, walk, stand, travel from one area/building to another, stoop, reach, and kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision. Some light lifting and/or carrying may be required.

Compensation:

This is a 40 hour per week 10 months a year non-exempt hourly position. AKFCS also provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes the following:
