Job Description
- Functions as a member of the Pierce Middle School Leadership Team to maintain a positive, caring, orderly, and supportive school culture and learning environment.
- Assists the Principal in the role of instructional leader to promote student behavior that is supportive and conducive to the implementation of the school’s instructional programs and goals.
- Provides instructional leadership through the support and development of teachers, and uses data to inform decisions and to support teachers in meeting instructional goals and ensuring equitable opportunities for all students.
- Supervises and evaluates assigned personnel utilizing the MPS Evaluation System to support professional growth.
- Implements policies, procedures and/or processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements.
- Provides positive behavior supports and implements social emotional learning initiatives to assist students in achieving successful outcomes.
- Provides leadership in implementing school-wide restorative practices and, when necessary, administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with the Pierce Middle School Student Handbook, Milton Public Schools district policies, and state law, consulting frequently with the Principal and/or other Assistant Principal.
- Receives referrals and confers with students, parents/guardians, teachers, community agencies, and the School Resource Officer as necessary to support the needs of students.
- Monitors students during lunch, passing periods, and other activities, and instructs students in appropriate behavior.
- Maintains strong lines of communication with students, staff, and families that contribute to trusting and mutually respectful relationships.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Manages a variety of school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned personnel, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district and state policy and maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.
- Monitors and organizes attendance functions; prepares letters, calls parents/guardians, and attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy students; provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts.
- Attends meetings (grade level meetings, team meetings, IEP, and parent meetings), submits reports, and completes other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal.

All six of the district’s buildings have been rebuilt or updated to state-of-the-art facilities.
