Job Description

The Grand Rapids, Minnesota office of GEI is seeking an experienced water resources (hydrology and hydraulics) engineer to support our industrial and municipal service lines. The successful candidate could also be based in our Duluth, MN or Green Bay, WI offices. Under the direction of a Senior Engineer, this individual will provide support to ongoing design efforts that include preparation of design documents and plan sets for solid waste, mining, and industrial site development work.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

• Support and lead work in the following engineering disciplines: Water Resources (Hydrology and Hydraulics), Civil Engineering (Site Development), Geotechnical Engineering (Building Foundations, Mining, Dam Safety), and Solid Waste (Landfill Design and Construction);
• Support and lead data management and geotechnical analysis, technical report development, and assist in preparation of technical presentations and proposals to clients and regulators;
• Perform field work as needed to support projects including but not limited to field observation and data collection, soil and water sample collection, drill rig observation, and support of other field investigations;
• Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, bid documents and project schedules.
• Prepare proposals, develop project scope, budgets and schedules, and perform project management.
• Participate in business development activities and contribute to office growth.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S (preferred) in Civil / Water Resources Engineering, or related field.
• Professional Registration (P.E.) in Minnesota or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• 5-15 years of previous professional experience in water resources engineering in an AE Consulting environment.
• Ability to work well alone and in a team atmosphere.
• Self-motivated with good problem-solving skills and willing to respond to instruction.
• Excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, CAD, MS Office, MS Project, PowerPoint, and other computer applications, GIS experience strongly preferred
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Possess a valid driver s license.
• Ability to travel as needed for work assignments.
• Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
